Keynote Address: Putting inclusion at the heart of ‘closing the gap’: The fragility of inclusive education in an age of exclusion - Professor Roger Slee, University of South Australia

Roger has advised on education policy around the world and led or worked on large projects in many countries including Iraq, India, Kosovo, Montenegro, Australia, Ethiopia, New Zealand, Singapore and Canada. He is the founding Editor of the International Journal of Inclusive Education (Taylor & Francis) and the Journal of Disability Studies in Education (Brill).  His most recent book is called Inclusive Education Isn’t Dead, It Just Smells Funny (Routledge).

Keynote Address: The Scottish Attainment Challenge: progress and
future directions
- Maria Walker OBE, Strategic Director, Education Scotland

Maria Walker took up her post as Strategic Director for Regional Improvement in late August 2018. The post has a focus on supporting Regional Improvement Collaboratives and in developing a regional approach to the work of Education Scotland, including the support to Local Authorities. Maria’s previous role was as Director of Education and Children’s Services in Aberdeenshire and she has held a variety of roles in education and community learning an development across Scotland.​
