Knowledge exchange programmes

The Insight Institute supports short term, collaborative programmes involving academics, policymakers and practitioners. Programmes are intended to break down disciplinary and organisational barriers in bringing together a range of stakeholder from different backgrounds. They seek to mobilise existing knowledge in fresh ways through sustained and collaborative focus on a shared issue, and aim to support decision makers in all sectors of society in being better informed.

Calls for proposals

We run 2 calls for proposals per year, with deadlines normally in May and November. The first round is an 'open' call - proposals are invited on any topic which fit with the remit of the Institute. The second round usually focuses on a broad theme which proposals should seek to address. Previous call themes have included Understanding, Measuring and Promoting Wellbeing, Increasing Equality and Realising Human Potential in Post Referendum Scotland, Creating Cultures of Innovation, Learning from Other Places and Accelerating Progress towards the UN's Global Goals.

SUII Roadshows

The SUII team visit each of our member institutions twice a year, in spring and autumn, to promote the work of the Institute and highlight details of the upcoming call for proposals. These sessions are an opportunity for potential applicants to find out more about what's involved in developing a SUII proposal and to hear from a previous programme leader. Sign up to our mailing list or keep any eye on this page for details of the next series of events.
