Trains
There are direct East Coast rail links from London King's Cross to Glasgow Central Station via Edinburgh Waverley. On some trains from London, you may need to change at Edinburgh Waverley for a First Scot Rail Service. From London Euston station, Virgin trains and the First Scotrail Caledonian Sleeper travel direct to Glasgow.
The direct journey from London to Glasgow takes around 4 to 5 hours. The journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow takes 50 minutes, with trains running every 15 minutes.
The cost of travelling by train can be reduced by booking in advance.
Coaches
National Express coaches travel between London and Glasgow's Buchanan Street Bus Station seven times a day. The average journey time is between 8.5 and 10 hours, depending on traffic conditions and the time of day. The budget coach service Megabus also makes the journey between Glasgow and London twice a day and once at night.
City travel
Glasgow's underground railway is fast and efficient, info is available on the SPT site. The nearest stop to the Institute is Buchanan Street. There are also regular bus services and train services in and around the city.
