Parking
There is an NCP car-park on Montrose Street, adjacent to Richmond Street. A reduced rate of £5.50 per day is available to visitors to the Institute. Please enquire at the Institute on arrival.

Trains

There are direct East Coast rail links from London King's Cross to Glasgow Central Station via Edinburgh Waverley. On some trains from London, you may need to change at Edinburgh Waverley for a First Scot Rail Service. From London Euston station, Virgin trains and the First Scotrail Caledonian Sleeper travel direct to Glasgow.

The direct journey from London to Glasgow takes around 4 to 5 hours. The journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow takes 50 minutes, with trains running every 15 minutes.

The cost of travelling by train can be reduced by booking in advance.

Coaches

National Express coaches travel between London and Glasgow's Buchanan Street Bus Station seven times a day. The average journey time is between 8.5 and 10 hours, depending on traffic conditions and the time of day. The budget coach service Megabus also makes the journey between Glasgow and London twice a day and once at night.

City travel

Glasgow's underground railway is fast and efficient, info is available on the SPT site. The nearest stop to the Institute is Buchanan Street. There are also regular bus services and train services in and around the city.  

You can fly into Glasgow International Airport with a wide range of airlines, including British Airways, Easyjet, BMI, FlyBe. 

The low-cost airline Ryanair operates flights from Prestwick International Airport, which is around 30 miles from the city centre. Many airlines fly into Edinburgh Airport.

Getting into Glasgow from the airports

From Glasgow International Airport, it's a 15-20 minutes drive into the city - and there are regular airport buses. The Glasgow Shuttle 500 stops on George Square, two minutes from the Institute. The Glasgow Shuttle operates a 24 hour service every day.

Prestwick International Airport is around 30 miles from the city centre and has its own train station with First Scot Rail trains running to Glasgow Central Station every half hour (once an hour on Sunday) and taking approximately 45 minutes. There is also a bus service number X77 run by Stagecoach between the airport and Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow. The airport's location also means that travel by road is generally hassle-free. 

NOTE: there is no public transport to/from Prestwick for early morning and late evening flights when a private bus operates between Prestwick airport and Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station (pre-booking a seat is advisable).
