Dr Jane Morgan became Director of the Insight Institute in September 2010. She joined the development team of the, then named, Institute for Advanced Studies in October 2008. Jane is a senior civil servant on secondment to the University of Strathclyde, the host of the Institute, from the Scottish Government.

Jane brings to the Institute substantial experience of the policy-making world and a long term interest in the potential contribution of university research and knowledge to policy development. In her civil service career she has focused on matters relating to Scotland’s economic development including policies for energy, telecoms and childcare. Her academic background is in Politics but her early focus on Latin America gave way to an interest in policy making nearer to home. She is a Visiting Professor in the School of Government and Public Policy at Strathclyde.

Dr Patricia Krus came as an administrator and first employee of the, then named, Institute for Advanced Studies in December 2008. Of Dutch and British descent, Patricia was born and raised in France and came to Scotland in September 2005.

Patricia holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Leiden, Netherlands (2001), where she was a junior researcher and lecturer (1996-2000). In this role, she also held a number of administrative positions  at departmental and faculty level and was a member of the  National Evaluation Committee for Teaching in the Arts and Humanities for the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (Vereniging Samenwerkende Nederlandse Universiteiten). She also held a Fulbright Fellowship at the University of Virginia, USA (1999). Prior to joining the Institute, Patricia taught English and French literature and culture at the Universities of Leiden, Stirling and St Andrews. 

Next to her international background and extensive knowledge of academia, Patricia brings to the Institute project management and organisational skills honed as an analyst for ZS Associates, a management consultancy firm specialising in sales and marketing consulting for the pharmaceutical industry.

Jane Mallin is the Events Co-ordinator for the Insight Institute. She joined in October 2009, when the Institute was previously known as The Institute for Advanced Studies.

Jane brings to the Institute over 10 years of administrative and events planning experience acquired through various administrative and secretarial roles with Scottish Power and Oxfordshire County Council.

Jane is responsible for the organisation of the workshops and seminars held in the Institute, liaising with Programme organisers to ensure events run smoothly and effectively. This includes making travel and accommodation bookings, all catering and individual requirements for programme organisers and participants. In addition, Jane takes care of the external events held in our premises and can be contacted regarding the hire of the Institute for workshops, seminars and meetings.
